CAVANAGH KELLY PUT THE BOUNCE BACK INTO LOCAL BUSINESS
Leading accountancy practice, Cavanagh Kelly, has welcomed more than 150 local business leaders to a series of four regional seminars across Northern Ireland over the past two weeks. Delegates attended seminars in Dungannon, Magherafelt, Portadown and Enniskillen and learned first hand what action was required to bounce back from the current economic recession.
The key focus of the events was to provide hands-on practical advice and guidance on developing strategy, on winning new business and maximising profits
Alongside specialists from Cavanagh Kelly, Richard Ramsey, Chief Economist with Ulster Bank Group, gave delegates an accurate analysis of the local economy and the early signs of recovery.
Des Kelly, Partner with Cavanagh Kelly, noted that local business continue to experience difficult trading conditions but commented that opportunities do exist and business owners must concentrate on getting back to basics and making profits. “The past two years have been challenging”, said Mr Kelly, “and there will be hard times ahead. However, good business opportunities will continue to present and businesses must bank profits to have funds available to invest at the opportune time”.
Gerard Gildernew, Director of Corporate Recovery and Insolvency Services with Cavanagh Kelly, highlighted the importance of business owners taking time out to evaluate their businesses and ensure that remedial action is taken at an early stage to address inefficiencies. Mr Gildernew noted that too many businesses still do not have timely management information. “Timely management information is key”, he said “to addressing underlying financial pressures – all too often, we find that had the business had good management information at an earlier stage, then insolvency may have been avoided”.
