Forensic Accountant

SALARY: Negotiable* + OTE Bonus (*Placement on salary scale will depend on level of experience)

JOB OVERVIEW: CavanaghKelly are a leading Accountancy and Business Advisory practice within Northern Ireland. Having enjoyed continued success and growth within the local market we would like you will be part of a successful and busy team where you will gain exposure to various levels and teams across the Practice. There will also be opportunities for the successful candidate to improve systems and processes via projects across the Practice. As a Forensic Accountant, you will work closely with the Partner Team, utilising your accountancy skills to investigate financial discrepancies and inaccuracies such as fraudulent activity, financial misrepresentation or misconduct and disputes as well as assessing financial loss associated with contractual disputes and personal injury or fatal accident scenarios. You will also work closely with our advisory team, advising clients on the challenging and complex issues arising from transactions, business decisions, regulatory changes, joint ventures, strategic alliances and partnerships – at all stages from creation to exit.


THE ROLE: 

  • Working with clients in preventing and resolving transaction disputes including Asset-tracing and achieving full financial disclosure
  • Assist in fraud investigations, financial analysis and reporting in relation to same
  • Assist with claims arising from personal injury and fatal accidents
  • Providing professional valuations of matrimonial assets, property and businesses
  • Assist in the valuation of businesses - creating business valuations and financial projection models
  • Other types of work which may be required as part of the overall Advisory team

THE CRITERIA:

Essential

  • Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) for a period of 2+ years experience

Desirable

  • 1 year's previous experience in a similar role
  • Diploma in Forensic Accounting and Investigation is preferable but not essential
  • Previous experience of working in a Practice is preferable but not essential

  • Self-starter with motivation and enthusiasm to engage in growth activity
  • The ability to grasp complex commercial and financial issues quickly
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, including report writing and presentation skills
  • The ability to work independently, prioritise and work within set deadlines
