Fake 'tax refund' emails on the rise - BE AWARE!
We've been made aware of suspicious emails being sent that claim to be from HMRC however, they are not official emails.
The gov.uk website advises that HMRC will never use texts or emails to tell you about a tax rebate or penalty, or to ask for personal or payment information.
Forward any suspicious emails to phishing@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk
You can also report any suspicions to Action Fraud, the national fraud and Cyber Crime reporting centre for the police.
