Janette Burns

Janette is a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Ireland, a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and a Member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. With more than 25 years’ experience in accountancy, audit, tax compliance and consultancy, Janette advises a range of Northern Irelands’ wealthiest individuals and businesses. Janette’s experience across a broad spectrum of personal and business taxes, together with her positive relationship with the tax authorities, allows her to support her clients and help them achieve their aspirational business goals. Janette specialises in corporate taxation, business restructuring, business acquisitions and disposals, family succession planning, R&D tax relief, disputes and investigations, employee remuneration planning and equity incentive scheme planning.

Having formerly trained and worked within Big 4 and Top 10 accountancy practices, Janette has responsibility for the Cavanagh Kelly Tax Team, made up of highly qualified, diverse tax specialists who are members of both the Irish and UK Institute of Taxation. Janette sits on the UK Institute of Taxation Technical Committee and NI Institute of Chartered Accountants Tax Committee, proactively influencing strategy and future trends and regularly liaising with HM Revenue & Customs and other stakeholders.

On a Personal Note

When not working Janette enjoys music, having played the violin with Belfast Studio Symphony Orchestra for many years, and is currently a member of RLO Orchestra.  An aspiring fell runner, she also enjoys hiking and travelling.
