Slieve Donard sponsored walk to raise money for Newry Hospice

A Donaghmore family, who lost their mother to cancer, organised a walk in the Mournes with some 200 volunteers in aid of the charity Hospice.

Ethna McMahon, 61, passed away in November 2015.

A trained music teacher, Ethna regularly played at concerts, guest teas and charity events, playing piano-keyed accordian along with her sister Patricia on the fiddle, as part of the Loughran Sisters group.

Ethna was also a long time colleague at CavanaghKelly.

Before losing her battle with cancer, Ethna spent some time at the Newry Hospice and following her passing, her family decided to support the Hospice through fundraising.

A charity walk in the Mournes, which also commemorated the life of Teresa Caffrey was completed on June 4, from the Slieve Donard Hotel, Newcastle.
